Gauteng Women in Insurance (GWII) celebrated the end of the year in style with the highly anticipated Secret Garden event, held on 13 November 2025 at The Milk Bar Parkmore, set within the serene surroundings of George Lea Park (Sandton Sports Club).
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Discovery Insure and Santam (Main Sponsors); Bryte Insurance Company, Chubb Insurance South Africa Limited, iTOO Special Risks, and QSURE (Co-Sponsors); with additional contributions from our Complimentary Sponsors: Absa Insurance Company, Consort Technical Underwriters, Lloyd's South Africa, Sintelum; and from our Activation Sponsors: Genoa Underwriting Managers, Leppard and Associates, and Yard Insurance.
A “garden of glamour” theme
The Secret Garden theme truly came to life as attendees embraced the “garden glamour” dress code. Guests arrived in stunning floral prints, flowing fabrics and soft pastel hues, enhanced by eye-catching accessories that transported everyone into a dreamy, garden-inspired world.
The vibrant atmosphere was complemented by whimsical décor that was nothing short of magical. Every corner of The Milk Bar was filled with beautiful touches - from lush flower arrangements to twinkling fairy lights - creating an unforgettable experience.
The elegant tone of the evening was set right from the start with a feature wall sponsored by Genoa Underwriting Managers and Leppard and Associates. The night continued with delicious canapés and beverages flowing throughout the venue, courtesy of our generous sponsors.
National Salvage Brokers once again upheld their commitment to keeping guests hydrated through their continued water sponsorship. Absa sponsored the photographer, ensuring every moment was captured beautifully. Guests also enjoyed fun keepsakes at the Yard Insurance photobooth, offering playful snapshots throughout the evening.
Each member received a whimsical package containing two delightful macarons sponsored by QSURE - continuing their tradition of treating our sweet tooth.
Endings and new beginnings
GWII President Kyndra Robertson took a moment during the evening’s formalities to reflect on the successes and milestones of 2025, highlighting the remarkable work and dedication of the GWII community throughout the year. Velene Peters, who will take over as President in 2026, shared a brief overview of next year’s events and introduced the 2026 committee, along with the incoming Deputy President, Easvarie Naidoo.

Supporting the community through generosity
True to the spirit of GWII, the event wasn’t only about celebration - it was also about giving back. An entrance fee of R100 per guest was donated to Amcare, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals made vulnerable by poverty, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence and advanced age.
We thank all our members for their generous donations.
