GWII… what a year it has been!

The year 2025 was off to a strong and inspiring start for Gauteng Women in Insurance (GWII).

At GWII, our mission is to empower women in insurance by promoting professional advancement, personal development, and leadership. We deliver this through thought-provoking events, leadership programmes, and networking opportunities – while also giving back to society through partnerships with aligned charities and initiatives.

We remain committed to creating opportunities that take members out of their comfort zones, connect them with like-minded professionals, and provide both personal and professional growth.

A vibrant mix of events

This year’s calendar was filled with a vibrant mix of Networking Events, CPD Sessions, Vibe & Ventures, and Leaderwalks – each designed to empower, educate, and energise.

We kicked off the year in February with our first Vibe & Venture of 2025 – bringing members together for a relaxed, social connection. In March, the focus turned to professional upskilling with our first CPD webinar of the year: Cybercrime – Self Defence, offering valuable insights and accredited learning. Later that month, our first networking event of the year set the tone for motivation and collaboration.

April introduced our Trailblazer Leaderwalk series – a platform dedicated to advancing leadership skills and inspiring influence at every career stage. May followed with another impactful Leaderwalk session and a CPD event, ensuring our members continue to grow professionally.

June brought a touch of sport and style with our popular Golf Masterclass – a Vibe & Venture aimed at non-golfers wanting to learn the fundamentals and enjoy a day of camaraderie on the course.

In July, we dove back into leadership with our second Leaderwalk, keeping our members industry sharp. One of our biggest highlights of the year was in August – our Women’s Day celebration, in partnership with the Insurance Institute of Gauteng (IIG), themed “Depth of Her Power.” Having taken place on 7 August at The Polo Room, Inanda Club, this event was set to be an empowering celebration of women’s unique strengths and the power of community. The event welcomed a record 500 attendees and featured the inspiring Zandile Ndhlovu, “The Black Mermaid.”

September saw another Vibe & Venture and a Trailblazer Leaderwalk, before moving into October’s packed line-up: a CPD session, a Leaderwalk, and the exclusive GWII Sponsor’s Function – a moment to thank and connect with our valued supporters. We also hosted our much-anticipated Annual Golf Day in October, bringing together networking, fun, and friendly competition, followed closely by our Women’s Health and Financial Wellness Breakfast – offering members access to top medical and financial experts for a holistic take on well-being.

We closed the year in style with our themed Secret Garden Year-End Networking Celebration on 13 November, where members came together to reflect, celebrate, and look forward to another year of growth, connection, and shared learning.

Reflecting on 2025, our CPD sessions explored AI, cybercrime, travel insurance trends, and customer experience optimisation, while our in-person “mock trial” CPD format quickly became a member favourite, attracting a diverse audience including a growing number of men who value our content and community. Trailblazer Leaderwalks provided emerging leaders with opportunities to build networks and gain insights from speakers such as Ylaney Ramlall on mentorship and Terashni Pillay on influence without authority.

With a membership base of over 2 500 women, GWII has become a dynamic platform where members and sponsors connect, learn, and grow together – cultivating professional self-confidence, personal friendships, and leadership impact across the industry.

What to expect in 2026

Our theme for 2026, “She Leads”, reflects our commitment to diversity and inclusion, access to a talented pool, enhanced corporate reputation, positive societal impact, and building a legacy of leadership.

In 2026, GWII promises a year filled with inspiration, skill-building, and shared experiences. From professional development through CPD sessions to the vibrant energy of Vibe & Ventures, the leadership insights of the Leaderwalks and Trailblazer Leaderwalks, and the unforgettable celebrations of our networking events – 2026 is set to strengthen our community, expand our horizons, and celebrate the depth of power within every woman in insurance.
