GWII hosts prestigious annual golf day

Gauteng Women in Insurance (GWII) hosted their prestigious annual golf day at the magnificent Steyn City Golf Club in Midrand with main sponsors Auto & General and 1st for Women, co-sponsors Credit Guarantee, Emerald Risk Transfer, Everinghams, Innovation Group and Old Mutual Insure, and partner sponsors Camargue, F&I Insurance, F&I Reinsurance, Guardrisk, Leppard Underwriting, Lombard, SHA Risk Specialists and Road Cover.

The event, open only to experienced golfers, was played over 18 holes, followed by a prize giving sit down dinner.

Starting play

On arrival players were supplied with golf shirts, sponsored by Innovation Group and sunscreen by Digicall.

They then received goody bags filled with branded golf balls, sponsored by Credit Guarantee, caps, sponsored by Everinghams, screen/glass cleaner, sponsored by Genasys Technologies, branded socks, sponsored by Leppard Underwriting, cooling towels, sponsored by Old Mutual Insure, and a leather bag with t-markers, sponsored by RoadCover. Thank you to the sponsors for the goody bags.

The GWII golf day was played over 18 holes. The teams included a male industry colleague and the 18 holes played gave plenty of time for networking and friendly rivalry amongst the industry colleagues.

As per usual, there was a hole in one competition, where a lady  stood a chance to win R100 000 and a gent stood a chance of winning R50,000 which would be donated to the GWII nominated charity, sponsored by SHA Risk Specialists. Unfortunately, no one won it. SHA also sponsored ‘nearest the pin’ with a R2 500 ProShop voucher as a consolation prize if the hole in one was not won.

As players came off the field, players and guests then enjoyed a gin from the gin bar, sponsored by Emerald. The day ended off with a sit-down dinner and prize giving session.

Before the start of the day, players purchased raffle tickets, where the proceeds went to GWII’s nominated charity Cornerstone. The person that won, won a 1 x 4 ball valued at R5 700, inclusive of carts and a ProShop Voucher to the value of R1000. We managed to raise in excess of R5000 and we were so fortunate that Ryan, from GuardRisk, kindly donated his prize winning of R1000 to the charity, which makes the total R6000.
