As Gauteng Women in Insurance (GWII) reaches a significant
milestone this year, celebrating its 10th anniversary, it’s a time to reflect on the journey of empowerment and growth that has defined the organisation since its inception in 2013. Founded by eight visionary women in the short-term insurance industry, GWII was established with a mission to elevate the position of women within the sector in Gauteng, South Africa.
Reflecting on the past decade
Over the past decade, GWII has evolved into much more than a networking forum - it has become a beacon of support, empowerment, and advocacy for women in insurance. With a diverse membership base that includes insurance specialists, underwriters, administrators, brokers, adjusters, insurers, reinsurers, UMA specialists, and industry service providers, GWII has fostered a vibrant community of professionals dedicated to personal and professional development.
At the heart of GWII’s success lies its commitment to providing networking opportunities, fostering personal and professional growth, and promoting dialogue on insurance and relevant industry issues. Through a wide range of events, including speaker sessions, workshops, forums, and social gatherings, GWII has created a platform for members to connect, learn, and exchange ideas.
However, GWII’s impact extends far beyond networking events and professional development initiatives. It has been instrumental in driving positive change within the insurance industry, championing gender diversity, and advocating for the advancement of women in leadership roles. By challenging stereotypes, breaking down barriers, and promoting inclusivity, GWII has paved the way for women to thrive and excel in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Empowering women and shaping the future
As GWII celebrates its 10th anniversary, it’s a moment to recognise and honor the achievements of the past decade while looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. With a strong foundation built on passion, dedication, and collaboration, GWII is well-positioned to continue its mission of empowering women and shaping the future of the insurance industry for years to come.
As we celebrate GWII’s 10th anniversary, let us applaud the tireless efforts of its founders, members, and sponsors who have contributed to its success. Together, let us reaffirm our commitment to gender equality, diversity, and empowerment, ensuring that GWII remains a driving force for positive change in the insurance industry and beyond. Cheers to a decade of empowerment, and here’s to many more years of success and growth ahead!
